3 peaks. 24 miles. 5200ft ascent. <12 hours.
On 2nd September 2023, Stewie’s dad Adam completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in less than the 12 hour target, and raised an incredible £1,600.32 (+ £335 gift aid) for Teddy’s Wish, a charity that has been absolutely instrumental in helping us to process our grief as a family, and forge life long friendships with wonderful parents who truly understand what it is to lose a much loved child.
This is such an amazing legacy for Stewie, to know that 2 (and a bit!) families can be funded to attend a Teddy’s Wish retreat as we did, and hopefully benefit from it just as much, whether through learning tools to live well through grief, convalescing through therapeutic activities, or forging new friendships. These opportunities are truly a life line for bereaved families, and the power of donating funds to enable them to continue and be accessible to anybody who needs support cannot be overestimated.
Adam did an incredible job completing a very difficult challenge in less than the target time. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is 24-miles (38.6km) round trip route, and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. The challenge is to take on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), and in under 12 hours. These hills form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. He took some absolutely beautiful photos.
He was accompanied (and encouraged!) by Finley the Aching Arms bear who was with us when Stewie was born, and who has been with us every step of the way through our new life.
We are so grateful to everybody who has supported us and helped to create such a beautiful legacy for Stewie’s 1st birthday. Thank you so much.
