Every single Sunday for 33 weeks (from weeks 5-38 of our pregnancy) we played 'the Guessing Game', a yes/no question game to find out what size Stewie was each week. This started over breakfast in Dubai and became a great activity to do whilst travelling around Sri Lanka (a good distraction from the nausea), the Maldives and Thailand, and continued as a dinner amusement over the following weeks at home.
The game was made particularly interesting (challenging/ridiculous?) by using 4 sources which more often than not would have a different answer, all of questionable reliability. Charlotte was the task master and Adam was the guesser - and a very good one at that - he guessed every single one apart from perhaps 3 (which were probably down to Charlotte not knowing enough to answer his clue questions properly).
Whilst Stewie was predominantly compared to a variety of fruit of vegetables, there was one wildcard app which would suggest things as incredulous as an eyelash, a handspan, "your face". Adam's questions ranged from 'is it from the natural world?' (which always caused confusion on Charlotte's part), 'is it a fruit or vegetable?', 'does it originate from Asia?', 'is it grown in the UK?', 'does it grow on a tree or a bush?', 'does it have seeds?', 'do you harvest it more than once a year?', 'can you eat it raw?', 'can you buy it dried?'. Er, let me google that...
The result is that we learned a lot about global fruit and vegetables, and each week Stewie would have a wonderful new name (usually chosen based on what we found most amusing). You may notice that the naming was a bit inconsistent until week 20 when the name Stewie made its debut - and how he got that name is an entirely separate story...
